Cupro Fabric

Posted on 25 January 2016

Cupro is a regenerated cellulose fiber derived from wood fiber and cotton linter (the ultrafine, silky fibers that are a waste byproduct of the ginning process).

Cupro is produced by treating cotton cellulose with cuprammonium salt. While this process unfortunately uses a lot of energy and does needs water to clean the fibers, the end result is something beautiful and biodegradable that actually decomposes easily in soil.

This fabric is used as a silk substitute since it has the ability to drape beautifully like silk but breathes and washes easily like cotton. ‎ Like wool and silk it is cool to wear in the summer and warm in the winter.

Cupro drapes beautifully and looks and feels like silk on your skin. It takes dye beautifully achieving rich deep colors, is hypo-allergenic, anti-static and retains its shape well.

As our care instructions say - wash cold and lay flat or hang to dry.
